Color Trends. Illuminate the world, Be inspired...

We are all trying to define our spaces. Color Trends can help ease choices and inspire us. To help us with our choices we must first understand and clarify what a trend is, and describe the difference between a hype, a fashion, and a trend.

A hype is something that takes a group of people by storm, it emerges suddenly, and dissipates rapidly. Hypes come from some inner drive to be accepted, to belong. As teenagers and children, we all felt the pressure.
We all remember this, the pet rock. My pet rock came from under our balcony. I remember Hugo, it is still my little secret.

A fashion is more current and is usually followed consciously through cloths, toys, food, and certain aspects of lifestyle.

Hot for 2010; bangs are back in, 80's leggings and Romanticism.
BlACK simplicity.

Trends, on the other hand, can emerge out of every possible corner of society. Some can emerge rapidly; others evolve over several years - or even decades. In the design industry trends hold for many years. Trends are drifts, a tendency and movements in a popular direction.

Color trends emerge from different parts of the world and draw on a variety of national and international sources. From design to technology, from architecture to nature, from fashion to music and pop culture.  The driving influences for 2010 was global financial uncertainty and global warming.

Here are some of my favorite color trends from 2010.

A new look on vintage furniture, rejuvenated with inspiring colors and upholstery.
Old world, new world.....
Cool Neutrals

Warm Neutrals

We are all looking for a silent space where we can close off the world and rejuvenate. Romantic and inspiring, my favorites from 2010.

IN A fUTURE BLOG I WILL REVEAL THE COLOR OF THE YEAR FOR 2011
